If you’re worried you may eventually need to get LASIK a second time to correct your vision, we’ve got good news - You can get LASIK a second time, though usually eye surgeons won’t perform the procedure unless five to ten years have passed since your initial surgery. In most cases, our patients experience long-lasting vision correction and don’t need to get LASIK again.

How Long Does the LASIK Procedure Take?

The actual LASIK procedure is usually around less than 10 minutes per eye, but every patient is unique. The laser correction part only lasts for a small fraction of this time as pulses of laser light are used to shape the cornea. Unlike cataract surgery, both eyes are usually done during the same appointment, so you only need to schedule one procedure.

How Long Does It Take to Recover from LASIK?

The recovery period varies from person to person, but many patients experience immediate results and continue noticing improvements in vision within the first few days after surgery. At that time, you can resume most normal daily activities.
